“Behold, thy Son! … Behold, thy Mother!”

John 19:25-27, “Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son!  Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.”

This sermon was preached at our last observance of the Lord’s Supper on August 3, 2025. To learn more about the historic, Reformed and Presbyterian practice of Communion, listen to the final three messages of this series.

The “name above every name” and the name of Jesus

I designed this graphic that illustrates how even the New World Translation of Jehovah’s Witnesses confirms that Jesus is fully divine. Paul in two New Testament passages takes up the very words of Jehovah recorded in Isaiah 45 and applies them to Jesus. What is the “name above every name?” Jehovah, no doubt. But Paul says that the Father gives that “name above every name” to Jesus.

Tragically, the Watchtower organization continues to deceive its followers. But what do you think, friend? Contact me: I’d love to talk to you. Pr. Michael Ives: 609-459-3580.
