God had just saved them! He had just set them free from bondage and had taken them under His wings to be a holy people unto Him. He had just given them the gracious charter of their new nation, the Ten Commandments. But while the carvings on the stone tablets were still warm from the finger of God, a noise is heard from the bottom of Mount Sinai. It is the sound of celebration as the people worship their new golden calf, breaking the 1st and 2nd Commandments.

Wrath looms; clouds of judgment gather. In rage, Moses throws down and breaks the stone tablets! What does this all mean? Did Israel derail God’s plan? And above all, what does this all teach us about Jesus Christ, the promised Messiah?
